However, if you are running
Windows, then it may enable SNMP support for networked printers. Hence the
window is not able to get a response to a SNMP message and thereby assuming the
printer is offline.
SNMP is meant for Simple
Network Management Protocol and it is the method of getting information from
network devices such as printers, routers, and servers.
HP printers generally execute
SNMP, by responding to SNMP queries with information. However, Printers
sometimes don’t respond and thus encountering Printer is offline. You can fix
this by given below steps:
1.
Click
on the printer in the Printers window
2.
Select
the Ports tab
3.
Select
configure Port
4.
Untick
SNMP Status Enable at checkbox
5.
You
get your printer online
Well, you need to log in as
an administrator in order to change the SNMP status. Now if you find that this
method is temporary because it keeps going offline again and again then edit
the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print
and adding a new DWORD called SNMPLegacy with the value 1 and restarting may
solve it (thanks Coxy)
You can also set SNMP group
name to public to fix the issue.
Well if you have tried
everything but can’t make it on your own then don’t worry!! You still have a
point to redeem yourself by contacting experts through HP Printer support phone number. You any
problem regarding printer will get fixed in no time.
